Mitchell & Krista were married on July 12, 2014, with a ceremony at the Hope Lutheran Church and a reception at Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac, WI. This could not have been a more perfect Whispering Springs Wedding.

This couple has the best engagement story: Mitchell proposed to Krista on his birthday. They started the night by going out to dinner with some friends at Salty’s by Lakeside Park. Mitchell told Krista that his friend would be shooting off fireworks on the frozen lake at the park, so they should go check it out. (I love Krista’s comment to this: “I thought this was weird since it was January, but it was his birthday!”) They got to the lake and saw the fireworks, and then Krista saw the screen Mitchell had set off with electronic fireworks and her name and “Will you marry me?” The best part is that they caught it all on video—you can see it here: http://vimeo.com/57824320

Knowing this story, I knew the wedding would be special and meaningful. At the start of the day, I photographed a beautiful fountain in the commons area of the church. Later, I found out that that fountain was in dedication of the bride’s mother who had passed away. You could feel her mom’s presence all throughout the day. The bride’s bouquet had a photo of her mother and her mother’s wedding ring attached to it to honor her.

After the ceremony, the outdoor formal photos were taken at the groom’s parent’s house. It was beautiful and rustic, but the best part was that it was such a personal location.

At the reception, the bride’s father’s speech was beautiful and heartfelt—I love those moments that bring tears to my eyes. The dance floor was hopping all night thanks to the band Southbound. I LOVE photographing live bands; they bring so much energy to the whole event!
