Becky Wightman of the Fond du Lac YMCA is a strong force of inspiration. She is illuminating...
Becky Wightman
Becky Wightman grew up in a big family on a dairy farm in Eden. She still lives in Eden, as the proud owner of her grandparents’ home. From a young age on, Becky has enjoyed sports and exercise. Following her interests, Becky started out as an enthusiastic student in group fitness classes at the Fond du Lac YMCA. Stepping in for a missing instructor, Becky discovered her passion for helping others transform their bodies and lives. Not long after, she turned her passion into her profession. Becky now teaches group fitness classes at the Fond du Lac YMCA. She often teaches several times a day and on the weekends. In addition, Becky also works in the office of a local welding company. In her rare spare time, Becky loves making memories with her two children and fiancée. Apparently fearless, Becky loves riding roller coasters.
Some people have described Becky as shy. However, first impressions can be deceiving. In fact, there is strength and grace in the way she carries herself. Becky leads with quiet confidence and dedication. She is very humble. She works hard, prepares meticulously and then delivers excellence. At the YMCA, Becky has achieved professional certification in ten different fitness classes and is not finished. Her favorite class is Body Combat, a high-paced cardio workout inspired by martial arts. She teaches each of her classes with enthusiasm and joy. With clear focus and intention, Becky makes sure to remind the women in the class not to concentrate on their looks, but on getting stronger.
Becky’s students think the world of her. She always finds time to connect with them, in person and through social media. Many students have turned into close friends. Always kind and positive, Becky believes in all of her students and inspires them to push themselves further. She relishes helping them feel stronger physiologically, psychologically and emotionally. As a result, everyone leaves Becky’s classes with a proud chest. Becky is also deeply concerned with environmental issues, in particular, pollution. A dedicated recycler herself, she hopes that others will follow her example and take better care of the environment. Becky encourages everyone not to worry about what others might think of them. She believes that we can change the world by changing ourselves first.
