Shawn & Sarah's Wedding at Whispering Springs
Shawn and Sarah were married on May 2 with a ceremony and reception at Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac, WI.
Sarah told me the story of how she and Shawn met:
I had been “cat-sitting” my friend (and future best man) Josh’s cat periodically when he would go out of town, and I was not going to be able to do it the weekend upcoming. So I stopped by his apartment to drop off his key so he could give it to someone else to take care of the cat. I stayed for a beverage, and before I was going to leave, I used the bathroom. While in the bathroom, I could hear someone else arrive, and Josh supposedly said, “There’s a girl here; don’t say anything stupid!” to the person. When I came out, I met Shawn. I left shortly afterwards and texted Josh that I thought Shawn was cute and inquired about him—apparently Shawn had done the same. We found out later that we were both Josh’s cat-sitters—and neither of us like cats!
Shawn has his pilot’s license, and he proposed to Sarah a year ago after a flight from Madison/Dane County airport. Sarah was taking pictures while they were flying. After they landed, she even managed to capture a shot of Shawn as he walked towards her to propose on the runway. She put down the camera to say yes!
It was such a great day, with many memorable details. Everyone made me feel so welcome, and they were all so incredibly kind that I really felt like a guest. I could tell it was so important to have their closest family and friends there—they wanted a variety of family photos because it is very rare that everyone gets together, so this was one special event for all included.
Sarah’s grandfather was the officiant of the moving ceremony. You could tell that he and Sarah have a special relationship; he was a lovely man.
I love how the jewelry choices were specially chosen to honor the grandparents that had passed. Shawn picked his grandfather’s ring to be his, and Sarah chose a gold wedding band to match. Also, Sarah wore her maternal grandmother’s pearl necklace, and she found out from a cousin that all of her female family members on that side were wearing something at the wedding that they had inherited from her grandmother. It really made Sarah feel as if she was there in spirit.
After the ceremony, so many fun moments happened during cocktail hour. I could tell all the guests were having a blast. I love the moment when I caught Shawn, his groomsmen, and his new father-in-law talking about the toasts they were about to give during the reception.
Shawn & Sarah, thank you so much for choosing Studio L Photography to be a part of the biggest day of your life! I sincerely appreciate working with amazing clients like you, and I wish you many, many years of love, laughter, and happiness.
